What Does Immanuel Mean?

From the time Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, we have felt the weight of our sin and lived in a fallen world. But even in the middle of our deepest hurt and darkest nights, we can cling to the promise … God is with us. But He isn’t just with us in the broken moments. God is with us when we hear a newborn baby cry. He is with us when our kids grow up and celebrate milestones of their own. And He is with us when we draw our final breath on Earth. God is always with us.

This Christmas, we long to draw our family close and speak this truth over and over again. Jesus Christ, the Savior Isaiah prophesied about hundreds of years before His birth, came to Earth to be with us. He experienced joy, pain, temptation and even death. He knows what we are facing, has felt what we feel and carried the burden of our sin to the cross. And because He came to Earth be with us, we can be with Him for all eternity.
