What Does My Sin Deserve?

Adam and Eve lived in perfect fellowship with God in the garden of Eden, but one disobedient bite changed everything. Gaining knowledge of good and evil was tempting, but has had devastating consequences ever since. Because of Adam and Eve’s sin, we are all born sinners. Unfortunately, our children don’t have to be very old before experiencing sickness, pain or even loss. And as much as we want to shield their little eyes and cover their ears from the sin that surrounds them, we must remember sin is already inside them.

As we Talk About sin this week, let’s remind our children of these important truths:
Sin is defined by God, not by the world’s changing standards.
God is perfectly holy, and sin separates us from Him.
Every single person deserves punishment for their sin.

Even though sin is difficult to discuss, don’t shy away from the conversation. We can reassure our children that our merciful heavenly Father didn’t abandon us. Sin may have entered the world through a rebellious act of disobedience, but grace entered through a glorious act of redemption.
