Why do people say the Bible is not relevant today?

Some people will tell you God’s Word doesn’t matter as much today as it did in earlier times. This is not true. Since God doesn’t change, His instructions to us don’t change either. Sometimes people say God’s Word is not relevant today because they don’t want to follow Him. They would rather follow the advice of friends or what they hear through the media. It is best to follow God. Search Scripture for answers to your big questions! God’s Word is truth.

What do I tell my friend who says the Bible is outdated?

As the society around us changes, it may feel like God’s Word is old-fashioned or outdated. Even though people may change their minds about what they believe is right or wrong, we know God doesn’t change His mind. Since God is completely perfect, He doesn’t need to change His mind or His ways! James 1:17 says: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. Since God is perfect and holy, we can trust His way is always the right way and His Word is perfect.

How can I tell my friend something they believe about God isn’t true?

We often don’t speak up about God’s truth and correct lies our friends believe because we don’t want to offend or lose their friendship. God calls us to speak His truth with grace and love. In Romans 10:14-17, Paul says we can’t believe in something we’ve never heard. Faith and belief in God come through the truth in God’s Word. If we aren’t telling our friends the truth about God, who will? Remember that ultimately we answer to God, not to our friends.
