How Can I Be Saved?

I’m a grandpa. This means I enjoy ice cream cones, playing games, and visiting with the grandkids… and then I get to send them back home. A hug, a FaceTime call, or a piece of homemade art would be the highlight of my week. But nothing my grandkids could ever do or create makes me love them more. They can’t earn my love. I love them simply because they are mine. 

Sometimes we think that we have to be good enough for a certain person to like us, or maybe to have more friends. But feeling like we have to earn someone’s favor might affect what we think about God and how He loves us.

Scripture is clear – our salvation is by grace through faith. There’s not a single thing we’ve done or could ever do to earn God’s favor. Think about it –  when would we ever be “good enough” for a Holy God on our own? The answer is never!  We are made right with God because Jesus paid for our sins by dying on the cross. God has given us salvation through Jesus as a free gift to anyone who trusts Him! Then God loves us simply because we are His.
